Welcome to Highlighti ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension handles your data.

Highlighti is designed as a privacy-first tool. We do not track your browsing history, we do not sell your data, and we do not store your content on our servers.

2. Data Collection and Usage

A. Personal Information

We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) except for the Email Address used for license activation.

• Email Address: When you purchase a license via Lemon Squeezy, we verify your Pro status using the email or license key provided. This is used solely for verification purposes.

B. User Content (Highlights & Notes)

• Local Storage: By default, all your highlights, annotations, and notes are stored locally within your browser using Chrome's LocalStorage or IndexedDB. We do not have access to this data.
• Data Sync (Optional): If you choose to enable synchronization, your data is transferred directly from your browser to your own cloud storage provider (e.g., Google Drive, WebDAV). We do not operate a sync server and cannot access your synced files.

C. AI Features (Bring Your Own Key)

Highlighti allows you to use Artificial Intelligence models to summarize or analyze content.

• User-Provided Keys: You must provide your own API Key (e.g., OpenAI, DeepSeek, etc.) to use these features. Your API Key is stored locally in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
• Data Transmission: When you trigger an AI feature, the selected text or the public URL of the current page is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you selected.
• No Training: We do not collect your content for training machine learning models. Please refer to the privacy policy of the specific AI provider you choose (e.g., OpenAI, DeepSeek) regarding their data handling.

3. Third-Party Services

Lemon Squeezy

We use Lemon Squeezy as our Merchant of Record to handle payments and license management.

• When you make a purchase, your payment details (credit card, billing address) are processed entirely by Lemon Squeezy. Highlighti does not have access to or store your financial information.
